“Write with Me” Workshop

Did you know that October 20th is National Writing Day and November 1st is both National Author’s Day and National Family Literacy Day?
We mark these very special events in the world of literacy and academic support by hosting a workshop entitled “Write with Me.”
This engaging literacy program invites young readers into the creative world of storytelling through the lens of a real-life mother-son author duo. Lisa Renea Shaw and her son Liam Shaw will read from one of their self-published titles in the Liam’s Faith Adventures series and guide students through the process of co-authoring a book.
Goals of the workshop
Learn the art of narrative writing
Have fun with character development
Find joy in collaborative storytelling

Learn Spanish and Cook at our Culinary Event:
Dish: “Papa a la Huancaína”
Origin: Peru
We are making “Papa a la Huancaína” Papa a la Huancaína comes from the Huancayo area of Peru and is a dish consisting of a spicy and creamy cheese sauce that is served over boiled potatoes.
Our very own Culture and Communication Advisor, Doris Gamero de Lazo, will be walking us through how this traditional and delicious dish is made. She is a native Peruvian and an awesome cook.
