Playful Beginnings in Language and Culture
Exploratory Spanish for Littles invites young learners into the joyful world of Spanish through music, movement, and storytelling. Designed for children with little to no prior exposure to the language, this course nurtures curiosity and confidence through playful, hands-on experiences that build foundational vocabulary and communication skills.
Course Length: 8 Weeks Format: Hybrid (In-Class + At-Home Practice) Target Learner: Early Childhood (PreK–Grade 1) Proficiency Goal: Novice Low (ACTFL) Approach: Learning Through Play, Music, and Story
Each session blends song, chant, and story time with interactive activities that encourage children to listen, repeat, and respond in Spanish. Families are invited to extend the learning at home with simple, engaging practice tools that reinforce classroom themes.
Thematic Focus:
Phonics Foundations: Spanish letter names, vowel sounds, and rhythm-based pronunciation
Personal & Public Identities: Sharing names, ages, and feelings
Families & Communities: Naming family members, exploring roles, and celebrating diversity
Essential questions guide each theme, helping children make meaningful connections between language, self-expression, and the world around them.
Language Functions
By the end of the course, children will be able to:
Say their name and age in Spanish
Ask for help using simple phrases
Express likes and dislikes with familiar vocabulary
Identify and name family members
Participate in songs, chants, and story-based dialogue
