Course Description


This course is for absolute beginner students (A1) and students with some familiarity with the Spanish language. Students are challenged to build their confidence in performing Spanish language performance task with Spanish speakers. Learning will focus on the following targeted themes:


Personal Presentation
Family Connections
Doctor’s Visit
Bargaining and Buying


This course uses the CEFR scale (The Commmon Europen Framework of Reference for Languages ) to provide support and feedback for student to grow in their Spanish language proficiency. Through the careful use and monitoring of the following language skills: Listening, Reading, Spoken Interaction, Spoken Production and Writing, students can track their own Spanish language proficiency and learning.  


Learning Outcomes: 


Students will be able to perform the following language functions:

Ask and answer personal questions
Describe nuclear and extending family
Express pain and injury
Comparing and contrasting family dynamics
Interpreting and comprehending speech 
Ask for pricing and sizes while shopping
